Changes in the PPFL before the 2001-2002 season

- There will be a change in the format of the PPFL from this season. After the regular 26 rounds the top 6 and bottom 8 teams will form 2 playoff groups in which the teams will meet each other once again twice. They'll be starting the playoff stage with the points they have achieved in the regular season, divided by 2 (rounded up). The bottom 3 teams from the rele- gation club will be relegated to the First Proffesional Football League. - Lovech (Lovech) changes name to Liteks (Lovech). - Hebar 1920 (Pazardzhik) merges into Belasitsa (Petrich) from the SPFG, with the new club playing as Belasitsa (Petrich) in the PPFL. By so Hebar 1920 is effectively dissolved. - Velbazhd (Kyustendil) merges into Lokomotiv (Plovdiv) from the SPFG. The new club will play as Lokomotiv (Plovdiv) in the PPFL. By so Velbazhd is effectively dissolved. There is already a new club foudned - Velbazhd 1919 (Kyustendil). It is not clear where it will compete in the coming season. Most probably it will start from the "A" OFG Kyustendil (4th level).
