Changes in the FPFL before the 2001-2002 season

- The Second Proffesional Footbll Group changes name to First Proffesional Football League (FPFL). - Following the two club mergers which lead to Lokomotiv and Belasitsa leaving the group, it was decided that the FPFL would reamin with 14 teams for this season. The group is planned to expand to 16 teams from the next season - 2002-2003. - Two days before the season start Slanchev bryag (Nesebar) withdrew. - Granichar (Svilengrad) changes name to Svilengrad (Svilengrad). - Hebar 1920 (Pazardzhik) from the PPFL merges into Belasitsa (Petrich), with the new club playing as Belasitsa (Petrich) in the PPFL. By so Hebar 1920 is effectively dissolved. - Velbazhd (Kyustendil) from the PPFL merges into Lokomotiv (Plovdiv). The new club will play as Lokomotiv (Plovdiv) in the PPFL. By so Velbazhd is effectively dissolved. There is already a new club foudned - Velbazhd 1919 (Kyustendil). It will compete in the SW "V" AFG this season, following a merger with Stefanel (Dupnitsa).
